Trichotillomania affects roughly 1–2% of women, almost always quietly. Most of our trich clients have spent years carefully arranging their hair to hide the pulled areas, avoiding pools, ponytails, wind, and intimate moments. The IHS Link System covers what you need covered without damaging the hair you have left.
Trichotillomania is not a hair problem. It is a body-focused repetitive behavior, often paired with anxiety beginning in childhood or adolescence. It’s often deeply private. The hair loss is the visible part, but it is the social and emotional weight of constantly hiding it that tends to bring women to us.
We are not therapists. We do not treat the underlying behavior; that is the work of a qualified mental health professional, often using techniques like Habit Reversal Training (HRT) or ComB. What we do is provide hair coverage that lets you go to the gym, swim, get caught in the rain, and let someone touch your head without anxiety.
Many of our trich clients tell us we’re the first solution that did not feel like a wig, did not interfere with regrowth, and did not get in the way of their treatment.
Hot, separate, removable, often visible at the hairline, and entirely separate from your real hair. They cover the loss but they don’t feel like your hair, especially during the routines (showering, sleeping, intimacy) that matter most.
Sit on top of the hair, often clipped in. They can shift, they need daily on-and-off, and they require enough surrounding healthy hair to clip into, which many trich clients don’t have at the pulled sites.
Concentrated tension on the small amount of healthy hair around pulled areas. The fastest way to make existing thinning worse, and a route most clients with trichotillomania have already been turned away from.
Small links across many anchor points, distributing weight evenly, with hair placed exactly where coverage is needed. No tension on regrowing hair. Nothing harsh chemicals or adhesives or even anything to remove. The IHS link system is designed to feel like your own hair, including to you.
Links attach to existing hair, not to the scalp. Nothing covers the follicles. As regrowth happens, the system is adjusted around it.
For some clients, seeing the pulled areas in the mirror is itself a trigger. Coverage at the source can reduce that loop, in support of (not in place of) other treatment.
Swim, shower, sleep, exercise, let people touch your head. The system holds. Most trich clients describe the first month as “like remembering what life felt like before.”
The first appointment is always a free consultation in our private Beverly Hills studio with founder Leanne Mills. The studio is genuinely private with no walk-in traffic and no other clients in the room. Many of our trich clients tell us this is the first place they’ve felt comfortable taking their hair down in front of someone else in years.
You share whatever you want to share. Leanne assesses the condition of your scalp and existing hair, walks you through how the Link System would work for your specific pattern of loss, and gives you a quote or recommends a better option for you before you leave. There is no pressure to decide anything in the room.
No. The links attach to existing hair, not to the scalp. Nothing covers the follicles. New hair grows in around the links freely; at each maintenance visit (every 6 to 8 weeks), the system is adjusted around the regrowth.
You can. The hair in the system is real human hair, anchored to your existing hair via the links. The pulling sensation is the same. For some clients this is helpful — pulling on attached hair instead of regrowing follicles — and for others it’s neutral. Either way, the system holds and is rebuilt as needed at maintenance visits.
Generally, no. We’re a hair solution, not part of your medical or mental health care, and we keep those lanes separate. What we’d strongly encourage is that you have that side covered: trichotillomania is best worked on with a qualified mental health professional, and we always recommend talking to a doctor or therapist about the underlying behavior. We handle the coverage so you can focus on the work that matters.
It is not visible in normal life. People wont notice in photos or in close conversation. People aren’t going to find you out when your hair gets wet or when someone runs their fingers through your hair. The links are small and color-matched. The hair is human and matched to your texture and color exactly. Most clients report that the system is invisible even to people they live with.
Yes. The Beverly Hills studio is genuinely private. There’s no walk-in traffic and no other clients in the space during your appointment. Many of our trich clients tell us this is the first place they’ve felt comfortable taking their hair down in front of someone in years.
The free consultation is private, in person, and there is no pressure to book a service afterward. The point is to give you an accurate answer about what is possible for your hair, in a setting where you don’t have to explain anything you don’t want to.
